Luckley House School is a thriving coeducational day and boarding school for pupils aged 11-18.

The uniqueness of our school lies in the combination of our strong Christian ethos and our size. We are proud to be a small school - this enables us to focus on the individual, providing an education that affirms talent and develops potential. Luckley House School is an excellent school, with high academic standards and exceptional pastoral care.  At GCSE, the average ‘value added’ is one grade, which means that our pupils achieve an average of a grade higher in each of their subjects than pupils of similar ability in other schools

About Luckley House School

Luckley House School is a thriving independent day and boarding school for boys and girls aged 11-18. The school is set in beautiful Berkshire countryside with outstanding grounds and facilities.

We offer full, weekly or flexible boarding packages, within a close-knit but vibrant boarding community of around 30-40 pupils. Weekly boarding is an attractive option for many families, with a dedicated Luckley minibus available in the West London area , picking up on a Monday morning and dropping off on Friday evenings.

We hold high expectations for all pupils to achieve excellent academic results and are proud of our exceptional added-value record. Our small class sizes ensure that each pupil receives the individual attention he or she needs to really progress in his/her studies.

We are particularly proud of our IT strategy at Luckley, recognising the importance of ensuring that our pupils are proficient in widely-used information systems in such a way that their work and other activities are enhanced.  Every pupil and teacher in the school is issued with a Microsoft Surface 3 when they start at Luckley, which will be theirs until they leave the school. This device combines the best features of a Windows-based computer with tablet technology. Office 365 will facilitate access to files and open up opportunities for collaboration.

Our pupils’ work in the classroom is supplemented by a variety of enrichment trips and events throughout the year, including visits to places of interest and in-school workshops. Overseas trips are always popular, with recent destinations including South Africa, the USA and the regular ski trip to Europe.

Our rich and varied programme of extended day activities enables our pupils to explore different interests and discover new talents. All pupils are encouraged to take part and the variety on offer ensures that there is something for everyone.

Applicants are required to sit an entrance examination and attend an interview with the Head. Means-tested bursaries are available and scholarships are offered for academic achievement, sports, art, drama and music at Year 7 and 9 entry. Scholarships are also available at Year 12 entry.

Admissions Process

Your child can be registered with Luckley House School at any time, however, places are limited, so early registration is advised.

A Registration Form is included with our prospectus pack or can be downloaded at the bottom of the page.

The completed form should be returned to the Registrar with a non-refundable registration fee of £100. Early registration enables us to keep in regular contact with you regarding school news, events and developments as well as to advise you of the next steps to consider, at the appropriate time.

On acceptance of a place at Luckley House School a deposit of £600 is payable, which will be refunded in your child's final term's fees.

ADMISSIONS INTO YEAR 7 AND YEAR 9

We admit girls at age 11 and 13, and currently boys at age 11, through an entrance examination process, where both academic ability and all-round potential are assessed. Entrance examinations are usually sat in January and will test pupils in mathematics, English and non-verbal reasoning.

We consider a report from your child's current Headteacher and all candidates will have an interview with our Head or senior member of staff. As part of the interview process for Year 7 entry, your child will be asked to complete a personal ‘Story Board’ to demonstrate his/her hobbies, achievements and interests. A copy of the template is available to download at the foot of this page.

Pupils sitting the examination must ideally be registered by November of the preceding year.
