About Bronte House

At Brontë House, we have been educating and enriching the lives of young people for over 80 years and are proud of our long history of academic excellence. We are highly successful in developing well-rounded individuals who have confidence, respect for others, sound judgement and integrity.

We are a busy and friendly school – large enough to offer an exceptional range of opportunities but small enough for every child to be known and valued. Our combination of small class sizes, a supportive family atmosphere and exceptional teaching ensures that your child will feel happy, challenged and make good progress in all aspects of school life.

Brontë House enjoys its own dedicated facilities and there is a continuing programme of enhancement and investment. Our classrooms are complemented by specialist teaching rooms for ICT, Art and Science. Our Sports Hall provides facilities for a range of sports, as well as providing the venue for assemblies and school performances. We now also offer bushcraft lessons across all year groups.

Our youngest children, joining at three years of age, have the opportunity to stay in the Woodhouse Grove family and enjoy a seamless education through to the age of 18 until they are ready for the challenges of university and beyond.

Fees range from £3,000 per term for full days in nursery (half days £1,870 per term) through to £4,000 for years 4 to 6.

Scholarships & Bursaries

Admissions Process

Children may join Brontë House at the beginning of the term that they turn three. They may be registered with us anytime from birth. Applications should be made using the registration form available to download from our website. This will usually follow a visit by the parents and an informal meeting with the Headmaster. Places will be offered on receipt of the application form and once accepted then the place is guaranteed. Settling in sessions will usually be arranged prior to a child starting.

Children may join Key Stage One and Two at any time in the academic year if places are available. This will usually follow a visit and a meeting with the Headmaster and the child will be offered a trial day. We do not assess children for entry at Key Stage One but it is important that they demonstrate that they can settle in and benefit from the environment that we offer.

Children wishing to join during Key Stage Two will undertake some straightforward tests in Maths and English during their trial day. This is not an entrance examination but it is important to ensure that the child's abilities lie comfortably within the range that we cater for. A report will be sought from the current school.

Following application and the trial day, places will be offered where space permits. Reports from their current school will be requested.

There is no registration fee, however for places from Reception upwards, an acceptance fee of £350 is payable. Our fees are fully inclusive - there are no extra charges for after school care, books or meals.
