Established in 1900 and set in beautiful English countryside in Somerset, overlooking Glastonbury Tor, Sunny Hill Preparatory School, part of Bruton School for Girls, is a day school for girls and boys aged 2 – 7 and a day and boarding school for girls aged 7 – 11. The girls then move to the Senior School: Bruton School for Girls which is on the same 40 acre campus.
Sunny Hill Preparatory School comprises of the Nursery School, Pre-Prep and Prep School. Boarding is available for girls from the age of 7 years old. Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 classes are co-educational until the age of 7. Small classes mean that every pupil receives quality individual attention.
The Early Years Foundation (Nursery to Reception) has an ‘Outstanding’ OFSTED. Boys and girls aged 2–7 are introduced to learning through games, music, dance and performing concerts. This, together with playing, climbing on the Activity Trail or exploring the beautiful surroundings, helps the children learn about the world around them. The Preparatory School then offers the individual care and attention needed to guide girls aged 7–11 towards reaching their full potential.
Every girl is given the opportunity to develop her confidence and enjoy learning. As each school day draws to a close, girls greet their parents or housemistress with beaming smiles and stories of the activities and fun they’ve enjoyed that day at Sunny Hill. Sunny Hill Preparatory School welcomes boarders from the age of 7, and our boarding house provides a home away from home, with caring staff and a house full of ‘sisters’. Girls can take advantage of full, weekly or flexi-boarding.
