The Old Hall School

Day Shropshire

Here at The Old Hall, the very core of our commitment is to provide high quality education - we understand that each individual member of our school is unique, worthy of respect and to be encouraged and nurtured as a learner and an individual. Quite simply, we aim to ensure that upon joining us, our pupils quickly become happy, confident learners, in an environment where getting things wrong and being ‘stuck' are normal and actually provide great stepping-stones to personal success. Academic standards are high and personal achievement is recognised and celebrated in many ways throughout the School.

In these testing financial times, we have kept our tuition fees at a very competitive level and are able to offer the finest prep school teaching and learning environment in Shropshire and beyond. Our pupils experience a genuine family ethos, which combines the very best of traditional and modern approaches; the kind of place in which you can be sure your child will be nurtured and challenged according to his or her individual needs.

We were delighted that our school's high quality teaching and pastoral standards were judged as excellent during our four-day inspection in March. In fact, 'excellent' was the inspectors' judgement following rigorous examination of all aspects of The Old Hall. I know you will find our inspection report to be very impressive but I also hold the opinion that 'seeing and experiencing is believing'.

Scholarships & Bursaries

Scholarships
Upon leaving The Old Hall, many of our Year 6 leavers secure 11+ Scholarships at a variety of independent senior schools. Scholarships regularily awarded include academic, sport, music, art and all-rounder awards.

We do not offer scholarships at The Old Hall, preferring instead to assist children in attending whose parents may otherwise be unable to provide an independent school education. This is done by way of offering bursaries.

Bursaries
In an effort to be as inclusive as we can be, bursaries are available to help families who are unable to pay full fees. These are means-tested, with each application being given careful consideration. For further information and application forms, please contact the Headmaster's Office; telephone 01952 223117 or admissions@oldhall.co.uk

Remissions
Siblings
Where three or more children are educated at the school, a generous concession of 20% is made for each child. This arrangement is reciprocated by Wrekin College, so that families with children at both schools benefit from the sibling remission as they progress through the schools.

HM Forces
A concession of 10% is made for each child.

Admissions Process

Choosing to educate your child in the independent sector is to present your child with the greatest gift imaginable. The Old Hall is accredited by IAPS (Independent Association of Preparatory Schools) and the Headmaster is an active participant in the association – keen to keep an eye on the future of education as well as maintaining all that is best from past traditions. In choosing The Old Hall, you elect to educate your child in a school which has at its core the aim of enabling every child and adult in its community to be the very best that they can be. You will have chosen education without boundaries or ceilings, where children can be children in a safe, non-judgemental and happy environment. Happiness and confidence are key elements of a successful education and we aim to engender these elements by carefully nurturing each individual child in our care.

You are most welcome to come and visit the School on any school day - simply contact the office, by telephone, 01952 223117, use the form below or email admissions@oldhall.co.uk to book a time. We would be delighted to meet you and your family.
