About Belmont Preparatory School

Belmont is an extraordinary school, situated in 65 acres of wooded parkland in the Surrey Hills, and located close to Dorking, Guildford, Cranleigh and Horsham.  We offer co-educational day education for children aged from 2 to 13, and optional weekly boarding or flexible boarding arrangements for children aged between 7 to 13.  We prepare children for entry to their preferred Senior Schools via Common Entrance, Scholarship or a school’s own entry procedures.

Here, every child matters and we look to develop children as individuals, seeking to inspire, to encourage self-esteem and to unfurl the hidden strengths of every boy and girl.

There is a happy, industrious atmosphere and high expectations pervade throughout all aspects of school life.  In addition, we have a challenging curriculum and an extensive array of extra curricular opportunities which together are designed to captivate the imaginations of every boy and girl.

Outstanding facilities include a designated Early Years facility, impressive sports hall, a well equipped theatre, and woodland adventure courses. These, together with our friendly, talented staff and confident, happy boys and girls, make Belmont the very best choice you could make for your child.

Admissions Process

Following an Open Day or an individual visit to the school, parents may choose to register their child for entry. The usual points of entry are at 2, 5, 7 or 11 years and the Registrar, Mrs Nikola Meaney, will advise you as to the age appropriate year group for your child.  Means-tested bursaries may be available from Year 3 upwards.

Early registration is strongly recommended. At this stage, a registration fee of £100.00 (£150.00 EEU or overseas) is payable. Following registration your child will be invited to spend some time with us and a report will be requested from your child's current school.

Children will be offered a place on a first come, first served basis, subject to our Admissions Policy and Procedure.  Once the Headmistress has confirmed an offer of a place (which may be conditional) in writing, you will be asked to confirm your acceptance of that place within 3 weeks and at that stage an Acceptance Deposit of £500.00 (£1,000 EEU, £2,000 overseas) is payable.

In the event that we are fully subscribed and are only able to offer a waiting list place, the school will ask you to confirm your desire by accepting the place and paying the Acceptance Deposit (£500.00, £1,000 EEU, £2,000 overseas).  We will confirm whether a place is available for children on our waiting lists by the last day of the penultimate term preceding the proposed term of entry.

For further details, or to arrange a visit, please contact Mrs Nikola Meaney on 01306 730852 or by email (
