St Olave’s has up to 340 pupils aged 8-13 and benefits from sharing the 47 acres of grounds and facilities with St Peter's and Clifton School and Nursery (also an IAPS school), whilst being only 10 minutes from the centre of York and York station.
With small classes, wonderful facilities and a vast array of academic and extra curricular opportunities, it offers the perfect preparation for secondary education. Music, Art, Modern Languages, Design and Technology and IT are all standard on the curriculum along with an emphasis on recreational and competitive Sport, using the unrivalled facilities it shares with St Peter’s. In the final three years specialist subject teaching is introduced so pupils are well prepared for secondary education. Most pupils move on to St Peter’s, to which there is direct entry and where the number of day places at 13+ are few and far between.
Recognising the demands of the modern family, the school now offers weekly or flexi-boarding for pupils from age 8 -13. This can be from a few regular nights a week so as to reduce commuting time or to fit in with your working patterns, through to just the occasional night. Full boarding still continues with the added benefit of a full fun activity programme at the weekends.
The school has a significant number of Forces families and has ex Forces House Parents. "Taking care of all facets of the developing child is the keystone of our pastoral care," says Andy Falconer, Head of St Olave’s, "so understanding the concerns and needs of Forces families is something we have a lot of experience of".
'Taster days' or an overnight stay to see how your child would enjoy boarding are available. Call the School on 01904 527391 for a visit at any time.
