New Hall Preparatory School offers a rich and varied curriculum which meets both the National Curriculum and Independent Schools Curriculum requirements. We pride ourselves on teaching consistently outstanding lessons, which aim for academic excellence at all times. Small class sizes of around 20, differentiated lessons and setting in Years 5 and 6 in English and Mathematics ensure that pupils are appropriately challenged and make exceptional progress.
New Hall Pre-Reception is open to pupils aged 3 from the start of the academic year in which they turn 4. The Pre-Reception classroom is a bright, airy space purpose-built for the delivery of early years education. It is set in the stunning grounds of New Hall campus which are often used by our pupils for nature trails and activities. The Pre-Reception curriculum, in keeping with our ethos, puts an emphasis on the “all-round” development of your child. Children in Pre-Reception are taught through seven areas of learning including; personal development, literacy, communication and language, problem solving, understanding of the world, creative development and religious education. Pre-Reception pupils have opportunities which aid their development, whilst also being fun and engaging, such as a week of Diamond Jubilee Celebrations which saw the pupils take part in a tea party and games; an Olympic Opening Ceremony complete with an Olympic Torch and costumes made by the children; and the annual Valentine’s Day Tea Party where children make food and decorations and parents are invited to join in.
At New Hall students can board from age 7-18 in one of our purpose-built boarding houses. Our dedicated boarding staff are committed to providing a happy, settled and secure family environment for every child. Depending on their year group, students can choose to be a full, weekly or flexi-boarder. In 2012, two dedicated junior boarding houses were opened for students in Years 3 - 8.
