Babington House School

Day Kent

Babington House School is an independent day school from 3 to 18 years, situated in a beautiful group of buildings on Grange Drive in Chislehurst, near Bromley. The boys and girls receive first class education in a supportive and academic environment.

We are co-educational up to 11 years old; girls only from 11 to 16 and have a mixed Sixth Form.

At Babington House, ““pupils throughout the school display excellent attitudes to learning that are evident in all that they do, and an atmosphere of happy endeavour permeates school life”, independent school inspectors find.

In November 2016, Babington House School had an Educational Quality and Compliance Inspection by the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI).

The school received the highest grade possible in all categories and across every age group which, under the new Inspection Framework, is described as 'Excellent'.   This is very rare indeed particularly for an all through school from 3 to 18 years.  Babington could not have done better and such a result from a more robust inspection framework is a remarkable achievement for the school community.

Key Findings:
Quality of the pupils’ academic and other achievements – Excellent
Quality of the pupils’ personal development – Excellent

“Pupils are confident, independent learners and thinkers with high personal values and an awareness of their responsibilities in the outside world, fully reflecting the school’s aims.  They contribute fully to the happy, relaxed and close-knit community.”

About Babington House School

Babington House School is an independent day school in Chislehurst, Kent for pupils aged 3 to18 years. We select children on their academic ability and potential, as well as personal qualities. Once at Babington, they are expected to surpass their own expectations and we achieve excellent results. Babington House has high standards of behaviour, dress and conduct, benefiting from small class sizes of no more than 20 pupils and a strong sense of community. At GCSE Babington students achieved 92% 5 A* - C (9 – 4) including English and Maths.
71% of all GCSE grades were A* - B (9 – 5), which are particularly impressive given the new grading.

As well as excellent results in the Senior School, Babington has a thriving Preparatory School for boys and girls from 4 to 11 years old and the Nursery is top of the Bromley league table for Early Years Education for the second year running.

Admissions Process

We are happy to admit girls and boys at any age and any time during the academic year, provided we have space and they fulfil our entry criteria.  Our starting point is the recognition that every child is unique and that your child is special. Like you we want him or her to be happy and successful. We select on academic ability as well as potential.

We also try to make it as friendly and fun as we can so that we, and you as parents, can work out whether your son or daughter would thrive here.  We talk to your child and read their most recent school report, we also discuss the application with you.  Our academic tests, which involve some Maths and English, are usually carried out during a 'taster' day which is booked in at a time to suit your convenience.

In these respects we offer an alternative to the restrictive and more rigid entry procedures of some other schools.
