Derby High is an independent day school conveniently situated on the outskirts of Derby. Our friendly, happy Primary School takes girls and boys aged between 3 and 11 whilst our busy, ambitious Senior School educates girls only up to age 18.
Derby High School - Primary has a total of 235 pupils.
An environment where children love to learn, come into school excited for the challenges ahead of them, have the space to share their creativity and are led by teachers whose enthusiasm for the children they teach is evident from the moment you set foot in the classrooms. Derby High Primary is a vibrant, fun place to be whilst achieving high academic standards and establishing excellent levels of behaviour. The school encourages and helps to develop confidence from an early age and keeps its pupils incredibly busy through a wide range of extra curricular activities and events.
Our broad curriculum is explored by the children in a variety of ways, topic work, performances and class assemblies, songs, visits and themed days all help to bring our curriculum to life. Our academic expectations for our pupils are high and we find that the children in our school respond well to this, setting them in good stead for their future studies once their Primary years are behind them.
When three or more siblings attend the school, there is a reduction of 33⅓ % on the above tuition for the youngest child on net fees.
The first step in our admissions process is to arrange a convenient time for you to visit the Primary School. This can be done by contacting our Registrar.
On your visit you will be given a tour of our Primary School by Mrs Hannaford, our Primary Head, who will be more than happy to explain the ethos of the school, show you examples of work and answer any queries you may have. Please feel free to bring your child along on the tour – we love showing people around our school!
Following your tour of the Primary School our Senior Head will be available to show parents of girls around the Senior School so that you can see how girls progress from one stage of their education to the next.
The next stage after the tour is to register your child with us. You can do this by returning the registration form and registration fee (currently £100) to the Registrar.
We will then invite your child to spend a morning in school joining in with a class of pupils of their own age. During that time we will observe them socially with other children and ascertain their readiness to learn. Older pupils would have some work to complete to identify their current level of working.
