About Eagle House

A rounded curriculum

The school is proud of its academic record. Younger pupils follow the International Primary Curriculum and our older children have recently embarked on a new Humanities curriculum that links subjects through topics and themes. Great teaching, new technology and a focus on the basics mean that children make good progress and love to be in the classroom.

Independent learning is a focus for all children and our Extended Project programme helps drive inquisitive minds. We unashamedly offer lots as part of our Golden Eagle activities experience. Children benefit from a huge range of opportunities in sport, music, drama, art, outward bound and community programmes.

Busy, happy children

Busy children are happy and fulfilled children and we like to think that all pupils are Learning for Life. Everyone is given the chance to stretch themselves in every area. Challenge is an important part of growing up and at Eagle House we learn that success and failure are both positive experiences.

Bright learning environments, outdoor learning areas and wonderful sporting facilities are important but it is the community that shapes a young person. Through the excellent pastoral care and tutor system, coupled with a buddy structure, ensuring children have an older pupil to support them, Eagle House seeks to develop wellbeing from the youngest to the oldest.

Responsible & independent

We aim to make all our pupils responsible and independent as well as able to show empathy and understanding towards others. Time for reflection in chapel and assemblies also improves the way we look at the world and mindfulness sessions help us all take stock.

Boarding is a popular option and allows children to experience a varied evening programme of activities as well as being part of a vibrant and caring community. Boarding encourages independence but it is also great fun and whether full, weekly or flexi, boarders have the most wonderful time.

Learning for Life at Eagle House opens the doors to all sorts of opportunities and this results in children who are highly motivated and enthusiastic in all they do. Eagle House buzzes with achievement and laughter – not a bad way to grow up!

Scholarships & Bursaries

Eagle House offers Junior Academic, Music and Sports Scholarship Bursaries for girls and boys

Pupils may be assessed for academic, music or sporting potential at Eagle House; if successful, the place may be enhanced by a means tested bursary. Scholarship bursary awards are only available to pupils who would not otherwise be able to attend Eagle House School due to limited financial means.

Academic and Music awards are for pupils starting in Year 7, Sports awards are for pupils starting in Year 5 and Year 6. All awards will be assessed around eight months before the pupil is due to start.

Those offered an award are expected to sit the Wellington College Scholarship examinations in Year 8.

All pupils must be be registered with Eagle House School in addition to applying for a scholarship bursary place; all applications should be sent to the Registrar.

Admissions Process

Registration - Please complete the Registration Form and return it with the non-refundable fee of £175 to the Registrar. This will ensure that your child is included on our waiting lists for their year group.

Offer of Place - Once we are in a position to offer your pupil a place we will contact you, this is normally done around one year in advance of their start date. At this point we will request confirmation from you that they definitely wish to take up the place.

Confirmation - This is an agreement to the School's Terms and Conditions and involves the payment of the £750 confirmation fee. A proportion of this is returned at the end of the pupil’s final term, subject to the terms and conditions.
New Pupils’ Day – Once a child is confirmed we will invite them into the school for a new pupils’ day the term before they are due to start; they will spend either the whole day or a morning with the class they are likely to join when they come to Eagle House.

References & Reports – Eagle House will request references from a pupil’s former school once the confirmation stage is completed and only once you have advised us that we may do so, this is to ensure that all is in order and for the School to get a clear picture of a child’s contribution and strengths. We will also request from you, copies of recent reports to assist with placing a new pupil in the correct groups for his or her lessons.
