About Rendcomb College Junior School

Rendcomb College is an HMC and IAPS co-educational day and boarding school for children aged from 3 to 18 located within 230 acres in the picturesque Gloucestershire Cotswolds. Cheltenham and Cirencester are within close proximity and Day pupils commute from the surrounding areas of Gloucester, Swindon, Stroud and Oxford.

We educate approximately 400 boys and girls across our Nursery, Junior and Senior Schools. Boarding starts in Year 7 (age 11) and both Boarders and Day pupils share the same Houses enabling strong friendships and comradery to flourish throughout the College.

Life at Rendcomb College encourages young people to embrace as many experiences as possible through our holistic approach. We encourage Rendcombians to think independently, to challenge and to engage. We provide breadth in our co-curricular provision, enabling pupils to identify their strengths and aptitudes. Rendcomb provides a pastoral framework that creates physical, emotional and spiritual wellbeing, preparing pupils for life beyond College, fostering confidence, self-reliance and honesty.

HEAD OF JUNIORS' WELCOME

Thank you for taking the time to discover a little more about Rendcomb College Junior School – we firmly believe that your adventure starts here!

Our school has a committed staff and wonderful pupils but, please don’t take my word for it alone; I invite you to come and visit us – we should be delighted to welcome you.

I hope that you will come and experience for yourself how we seek to treat each and every child as an individual and allow them to discover their own talents. Whether they arrive in our Nursery at 3 years old or enter the Junior School slightly later in life, we aim to sow the seeds that will allow our pupils to develop into thoughtful, adventurous and academically ambitious individuals who are enthusiastic about learning and, moreover, enjoy coming into school each day.

Any successful school has to be a community and, situated in the midst of beautiful surroundings, we believe that to be a part of the Rendcomb community is a special place to be.

I do hope that our website provides all of the information you require and I look forward to meeting with you soon.

With every good wish,

Mr Gavin Roberts
Head of Juniors

Scholarships & Bursaries

A number of Scholarships (Academic, Art, Music, Drama and Sport) are awarded each year at 11+, 13+ and 16+. Scholarships are based on the assessment of a pupil’s potential and the value that we believe they will add to the life of our school. We also award the Noel Wills Scholarship and the Rendcomb Scholarship at 11+. Pupils joing Year 3 are eligible to apply for a 7+ Scholarship.

All awards are reassessed annually and are subject to satisfactory academic progress and behaviour. All cases are judged on their own merits and applicants should submit any additional evidence, as required, along with their Scholarship application form no later thanthe published deadline.

The number of individual Scholarships awarded each year depends solely on the calibre of the candidates. There is no limit to the number of Scholarships the school awards; Rendcomb looks for a level of excellence in order to award a Scholarship.

All candidates who apply to attend Rendcomb College Senior School at 11+ and 13+ are entitled to apply for one or more Scholarships. Candidates who are applying for Sixth Form may only apply for one Scholarship.

Scholarships are applied for during the 7+, 11+, 13+ and Sixth Form entry process, with Scholarships becoming relevant when the pupil begins Year 3, Year 7, Year 9 or Year 12 respectively.

Admissions Process

WELCOME FROM THE REGISTRAR

Thank you for your interest in Rendcomb College. We hope to make the transition to a new school as smooth as possible and therefore we have an enhanced admissions journey to enable a successful move into the Rendcomb family.

We have multiple entry points for children applying to join Rendcomb. Our Nursery welcomes children from the term they turn 3 years old and the Junior School welcomes applications throughout the year for all year groups; from Reception to Year 6.

Our Senior School has three main entry points; at 11+ (Year 7), 13+ (Year 9) and 16+ (Lower Sixth). Entry into other year groups is also possible dependent on availability. We recognise that family circumstances and commitments do not always fit into the school year and we welcome applications for the Senior School throughout the year.

We understand how important it is that you make the right choice for your family and the Admissions Team is here to help you do just that. Please do not hesitate to get in touch and we will be delighted to help. We look forward to welcoming you to Rendcomb College in the near future.

With best wishes,
