About The Queen's School

Girls at Queen's grow up being listened to and having their opinions respected by their teachers and friends. Secure in themselves and their environment, students develop the courage to persevere when things are difficult, to challenge ideas and to forge their own path in life. They understand that life is an adventure. Their ability to achieve great things in school and after they leave comes from their pursuit of a full and happy existence, coupled with a curious mind which has been honed in a genuinely nurturing environment. They leave school ambitious, independent, confident and able, ready to use these qualities to make wise decisions for their own and society’s long term success and happiness.

Admissions Process

Our Entrance Assessments for Infants and Examinations for Infant, Junior and Senior entry take place in January.

We know that choosing a school is a big decision and there are lots of opportunities for prospective students and their parents to visit the school to find out more about how we work beforehand.

At Open Mornings for the Senior and Lower Schools, visitors can tour the school, talk to staff and current students informally, look at the facilities and find out exactly what is on offer.

The Sixth Form Open Evening for prospective sixth formers presents an opportunity to hear from the Headmistress, meet the subject teachers and see facilities, as well as discuss subject choices and course structure and content.  Information on university application support, career guidance, extracurricular activities and other learning opportunities offered at Queen's is also available.

Lots of other possibilities also exist for girls and their parents to become familiar with the school:

  • The Magic of Queen's is a fun day of magic-themed activities for girls aged 3 to 6 in March.
  • A Little Linguists event takes place in May at the Lower School for girls in Years 2-5 at any school
  • 'Explore Queen's' days for prospective Infant, Junior and Senior entry pupils take place throughout the year.
  • A fun and educational Activities Day for girls currently in Year 5 at any school takes place in July at the Senior School
  • Year 6 girls at any school can attend the Sweet Science event in November at the Senior School
  • Girls and their families looking to join us in Reception can also take part in the Christmas Cracker drama workshop in December at the Lower School

Please visit the school's website for the dates and times of all these events.

Forthcoming Open Days

  • Enjoy the Challenge Lower School Open House

    9:30 -18:00

Come along and see Queen's in action on a normal school day - tour the classes, see our learning challenge curriculum in action, meet the pupils and staff and soak up the unique atmosphere. Tours can be booked in the morning afternoon or after school across this especially-extended school day.

  • Enjoy the Challenge Senior School Open Morning

    9:30 -12:30

Our Senior School Open Morning is a chance for families to get a real feel for the school and find out what being a Queen’s girl is really like. During the morning, you will hear about the school’s core values, what makes us unique and how we achieve such outstanding results, not just academically but in a whole host of individual ways for each and every girl. At Queen’s, girls are secure and happy enough to step out of their comfort zones and develop as individuals. They learn that life is for living and challenges are to be embraced. Our pupils lead the tours on Open Morning so this event is a good opportunity to ask questions about how they are finding their time at Queen's. There should also be time to hear a performance by some of our musicians, see a drama rehearsal, talk to our expert teachers about their passion for the subjects, watch or join in with sports and fitness demonstrations, engage with science experiments and find out more about the huge range of enrichment clubs that are on offer. The date for our 2019 Senior School Open Morning is Saturday 12th October from 9.30am-12.30pm.
